Experts predict interest rates will stand pat...for now
According to a recent Reuters poll, the majority of forecasters believe that the Bank of Canada will keep interest rates the same at its December 7 policy announcements. Of all 44 forecasters polled, not a single one predicted the government will budge from its current 1% key rate.
When the next increase will occur was not as clear-cut, but the vast majority believe the Bank will wait until its May 31 policy announcement to raise the key rate to 1.25%.
